Mining Tricycle Operation: 7 Core Rules for Underground Safety

1. Pre-Operation Full Inspection, No Faulty Vehicle Allowed

Core Checks: Brake system (sensitivity of handbrake and footbrake, brake fluid level), steering system (no slack in steering gear, secure steering tie rods), lighting system (headlights, clearance lights, brake lights, and turn signals functioning properly);

Vehicle Condition: Sufficient tire pressure with no bulges or damage, smooth operation and no leakage in the hydraulic dump system, adequate diesel fuel or battery charge, no exposed wires and secure connections;

Inspection Requirements: The driver must conduct a step-by-step inspection and record it before each shift. If any fault is found, the vehicle must be immediately shut down for repair and is strictly prohibited from entering the working roadway until fully repaired.

2. Strict Load and Speed Limits, No Illegal Driving

⚠️ Load/Passenger Rules: Strictly follow the vehicle’s rated load capacity. Overloading, over-height loading (material height not exceeding the carriage baffle), and overcrowding are strictly prohibited (only the driver is allowed; no other passengers are permitted);

⚠️ Roadway Speed Limit: Maintain a maximum speed of ≤5 km/h in the roadway. Reduce speed to below 3 km/h in advance and sound the horn on slopes, curves, intersections, and blind spots;

⚠️ Load Handling: Avoid revving the engine sharply or braking suddenly on slopes to prevent vehicle skidding or brake failure caused by excessive load.

3. Standardized Roadway Traffic, Safe Meeting and Passing

🚦 Driving Rules: Keep to the right side of the roadway at all times. Do not cross lines or occupy opposing lanes. Maintain a safe following distance of ≥10 m from vehicles or pedestrians ahead. No random lane changes, cutting in, or overtaking;

🚦 Meeting and Yielding: When encountering oncoming vehicles, pedestrians, or underground equipment, actively stop at a wide section of the roadway to yield. Proceed only after the other party has passed; forced meeting is strictly prohibited;

🚦 Special Sections: When passing through roadway corners, air doors, or intersections, follow the protocol of “Stop, Look, Honk, Proceed” to confirm no safety hazards before moving forward.

4. Standardized Dumping Operations, Prevent Rollover Injuries

📤 Dumping Location: Only dump at designated areas on flat, solid, and water-free ground. Dumping on slopes, soft ground, or roadway corners is strictly prohibited;

📤 Operation Process: Sound the horn to warn before dumping, confirm no personnel, equipment, or pipelines within 5 m around. Lift the carriage slowly; do not lift it rapidly. Monitor the vehicle’s posture during dumping and stop lifting immediately if tilting is detected;

📤 Post-Dumping Check: After dumping, fully lower and lock the carriage. Confirm no residual materials in the carriage and that the hydraulic system is reset before driving away.

5. Strengthen Explosion-Proof and Fire Prevention, Control Underground Fire Sources

🔥 Equipment Requirements: Underground vehicles must use mining explosion-proof engines and electrical components. Non-explosion-proof parts are strictly prohibited underground. Regularly test explosion-proof devices to ensure effectiveness;

🔥 Fire Source Control: Open flames and smoking are strictly prohibited in roadways. No open-flame operations (e.g., lighters, welding) are allowed near vehicles. Refueling must be done at designated ground areas; underground refueling is forbidden;

🔥 Fire Prevention Measures: Each vehicle must be equipped with a qualified dry powder fire extinguisher, fixed in an easily accessible location. Drivers must be proficient in its use. Regularly inspect oil and hydraulic pipelines to prevent leaks that could cause fires.

6. Enforce Personnel Protection, No Illegal Operations

🛡️ Protective Equipment: Drivers must wear mining safety helmets (with chin straps fastened), reflective vests, and anti-smash/puncture mining boots at all times. Wearing slippers or short sleeves on duty is strictly prohibited;

🛡️ Driving Norms: Fatigued driving, drunk driving, and unlicensed driving are forbidden. Continuous operation must not exceed 4 hours, with a mandatory rest of ≥20 minutes at designated rest areas;

🛡️ Operation Taboos: No phone calls or hands off the steering wheel while driving. Do not extend any body parts outside the vehicle. After parking, engage the handbrake and neutral gear. On slopes, use wheel chocks to prevent sliding.

7. Standardized Emergency Response, Quick and Safe Evacuation

🚨 Fault Handling: If the vehicle malfunctions in the roadway (e.g., brake failure, engine stall, hydraulic fault), immediately shut down the engine, engage the handbrake, and place warning signs 5 m in front and behind the vehicle. Do not repair it in the roadway. Report to the underground dispatch center immediately and wait for professional repair;

🚨 Hazard Evacuation: In case of roadway collapse, roof fall, or gas overlimit, cut off the vehicle power, shut down the engine, and evacuate quickly along the underground escape route. Wear a self-rescuer during evacuation. Do not linger for belongings or return blindly;

🚨 Accident Reporting: In the event of a vehicle scrape or injury, stop the machine immediately to protect the scene. Report to the dispatch center and safety management department as soon as possible, accurately stating the location and details of the accident. Concealment or misreporting of accidents is strictly prohibited.
